How we’re spread across the country
In 1991, during the tenure of Alhaja Selimot Tokan as Sadr, she divided Lajna Imaillah communities all over the country into 4 zones:
• Zone 1 – Lagos, Abeokuta, and Ijebu circuits, supervised by Sister Bilqees B. Abdulqadir.
• Zone 2 – from Ibadan to Akoko, supervised by Sister Haneefa Omoyele.
• Zone 3 – the present South South, supervised by late Sister Heedetu Habeebu.
• Zone 4 – the entire north supervised by Sister Mulikat AbdusSalaam.
This zonal arrangement was maintained over a long period until the need for decentralization arose. With time, the number of zones increased to 23 and were later known as Dil’a. Our current structure is Region → District → Muqami.

In 2021, a major reorganisation was made to the structure of Lajna Imaillah Nigeria, such that the number of muqamis increased from 57 to 374 and the number of districts increased to 57 while the previously existing 11 districts became regions led by regional coordinators.
Our current structure is Region → District → Muqami.
Muqami
In 2003, during the tenure of Sister Kudirat Raji as Sadr, the nomenclature changed from zones to Dil'a.
Later, in 2008, during the tenure of Sister Bilqees Abdul Qadir-Toye, Lajna Imaillah Nigeria was divided into seven (7) districts, so as to decentralize their activities in line with the Lajna Imaillah constitution.
Districts
Each district had various Muqami under them. District leaders (Sadran) were appointed by the Sadr to coordinate the activities of the various Muqami and send report to National. Ijtema competitions then became inter district.
In 2014, during the tenure of Sister Basirat Dikko, there was need for more decentralization as a result of long distance between Muqami in some districts; the number of districts was increased to nine (9) from seven (7). For the same reason, the number was further increased to 11 in 2018 during the tenure of Sister Taofeeqah Aderoju Fagbolade as Sadr.
Regions
In 2021, a major reorganisation was made to the structure of Lajna Imaillah Nigeria, such that the number of Muqami increased from 57 to 374 and the number of districts increased to 57 while the previously existing 11 districts became regions led by regional coordinators.
Region
Region 1 covers the entirety of Lagos State, Nigeria. Previously District 1, it was among the first set of districts created by Lajna Imaillah Nigeria in 2008. The district had five Muqami namely, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Agege, Badagry, and Epe. The number of Muqami gradually increased to nine with the creation of more Jama’ats by the headquarters.
The pioneer District Sadr was Late Sister Kudrat Shittu who served from 2008 to 2012. She was succeeded by Sister Taofeeqah Fagbolade who served as District Sadr from 2012 to 2018 when she was elected as Sadr, Lajna Imaillah Nigeria.
Sister Shakirat Akinpelu was thereafter appointed as the District Sadr from 2018 till 2021 when she became the regional coordinator for Region 1 after the organisation's restructuring.
The present Region 1 comprises all 13 districts in Lagos states and a total of 60 three Muqami.
When Region 2 was created, a renowned seasoned administrator in the university system Dr. (Mrs) Mulikat Olawanle Salaam, handled the mantle of leadership. Her leadership reigned between 2008 and 2012 with 10 functional Muqami.
Upon the conclusion of Dr. (Mrs) Mulikat Olawanle Salaam's administration, Alhaja Kudirat Gafar-Oye took over the mantle of leadership. Sister Odeyemi Suwebat Funmilola was later appointed after Alhaja Kudirat Gafar-Oye as District Sadr on 25th June, 2017. After the organisation's restructuring, she assumed the title of Regional Coordinator.
The present Region 2 consists of all 14 districts in Ogun state and 81 Muqami under them.
Region 3 covers the whole of Oyo State, Nigeria. District 3, presently known as Region 3, was established in 2008 along with the seven districts initially created by Lajna Imaillah Nigeria. After the restructuring of Lajma Imaillah Nigeria in 2021, it became a region.
The pioneer District Sadr for the then District 3 was Sister Haneefah Olayinka Omoyele. She served in this capacity between 2008 and 2012. Sister Mariam Kikelomo Ademoye succeeded her, and served as District 3's Sadr from 2012 to 2018. Sister Fateemah Mustabshirah Adewale was appointed as District 3 Sadr in 2018, and served in this capacity till 2021 when the district became a region and she assumed the title of Regional Coordinator for Region 3.
The present Region 3 comprises 12 districts and 91 Muqami.
District 4, now Region 4, was established in 2008. Then, it consisted of Osun and Kwara States, with Niger State being added in 2012. Later in 2018, Kwara and New-Bussa were carved out of District 4 to form District 10.
The pioneer District Sadr was Sister Haneefat Badmus, who served in that capacity from 2008 to 2018. Sister Moteehat Olu-Lawal was later the District 4's Sadr from 2018 till 2021 when she became the first Regional Coordinator for Region 4. The present Region 4 has 6 districts and 20 one Muqami.
Region 5, previously known as District 5 was created in 2008. It was among the first set of districts created by Lajna Imaillah Nigeria. Then it comprised Ekiti, Ondo, Benin, Akoko, Ankpa and Etsako Muqami. However in 2012, when more decentralization of Lajna Imaillah was done, Districts 8 and 9 were carved out of the district, leaving district 5 with three Muqami; namely Akoko, Ekiti and Ondo Muqami.
The pioneer Sadr for the district is Sister Fatima Ghazal-Lawal, who served from 2009 to 2015. Sister Muibat Taiwo Abdulrasaq succeeded her, and served from 2016 till 2021 when the district was reconstructed into a region and she became the first Regional Coordinator.
The present Region 5 comprises of 4 districts and 24 Muqami.
District 6 was created in the year 2008 and was also among the first set of districts created by Lajna Imaillah Nigeria. It comprised Calabar and Uyo Muqami, with Sister Simiat Folorunsho as the pioneer District Sadr.
Before then, the activities of Lajna Imaillah in this part of the country were not well coordinated. After the creation of the district, and with close monitoring and occasional visitation to the area by the National leadership, Lajna Imaillah activities in the area improved gradually.
Later in 2014, the number of Muqami under the district increased to 3, with Port Harcourt Muqami added.
In 2018, Sister Azeezat Zakariyya was appointed as the second District Sadr for District 6. She served in that capacity till 2021 when Lajna Imaillah was restructured, and all existing districts became regions. She therefore became the first Regional Coordinator for Region 6. The present region 6 has 3 districts.
District 7, now Region 7, was created in 2008. It covered all the Muqami in the northern part of the country. Later in 2018, in order to ease the challenge of long distance among the Muqami, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Jigawa were carved out to form District 11.
Sister Wakilat Sanusi then doubled as Naib Sadr II and coordinator for District 7 till 2012 when Sister Basirat Ajumobi was appointed as District 7 Sadr. She served in this capacity till 2018.
Sister Haleelah Ajao was then served as District 7 Sadr from 2018 till 2021 when the district became a region, making her the first Regional coordinator of Region 7. The present region 7 has 11 districts.
District 8 was carved out from old District 5 in 2012 and had three Muqami namely Agbede, Auchi and Benin. Sister Risqat Brimmo was the pioneer Sadr of district, serving from 2012 to 2013 when Sister Aminat Enahoro took over as the second Sadr. She was appointed in 2014 and served in that capacity tills the recent restructuring of the Lajna Imaillah, which reassigned her as the regional Co-ordinator.
The present Region 8 has 3 Districts.
District 9, previously known as Region 9, was created in 2012 from the old District 5. The pioneer District Sadr was Sister Uswat Habeeb, followed by Sister Mujidat Ayeni who served in that capacity till 2021 when she became the regional coordinator for Region 9.
The region comprises Kogi, Igala/Ankpa Districts. Currently, there are 3 districts under Region 9.
District 10, which became Region 10 in March 2021, was created in the year 2018. It was carved out from the old District 4.
Sister Silifat Lola Balogun was appointed as the First District Sadr in 2018 then Regional Coordinator for Region 10 in March 2021. The region has 4 districts and 12 Muqami.
Before the creation of the region, Lajna Imaillah members in Kwara state had been actively participating in all Lajna Imaillah activities. However, since its creation, there had been a noticeable improvement in the participation of Lajna members in the region.
District 11 was created from the old district 7 in 2018. It became Region 11 in 2021 when Lajna Imaillah. Sister Kudrat Gaffar-Oye was appointed as the District Sadr in 2018, and she became the Regional coordinator in 2021. The region covers Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Jigawa.
Region I
